| AlyMar Farm (short for Al & Marilyn) was established July 2002. We retired and moved from Southern California back "home" to Chico, CA. We bought an 8 acre farm with a very appropriate address -- Kansas Lane. Since I grew up in Kansas, this was the perfect place – wide open spaces, nice and flat! Five months later we bought our first 3 Nigerian Dwarf goats. We didn’t know the first thing about goats as we had always been “city folks”. Even now we are still beginners. Soon our small herd grew to 17, including 2 registered Nigerian Dwarf bucks and 5, what we called "oops" goats, which we later learned were a first generation MiniNubian. We sold most of our 2005 babies and discovered the MiniNubians were the first to sell. Everyone loved their cute airplane ears. We enjoy our Nigerian Dwarf goats and are adding the MiniNubians to our herd. Our kids are dam raised whenever possible; and since we haven't shown our goats so far, we still try to raise quality goats. We want keep our herd small enough so we can give personal attention, lots of love and handling to each goat to keep them "people friendly" and just great family pets. |
